Confucianism and Democracy BROOKE A. ACKERLY Vanderbilt University This article identifies a foundation for Confucian classless semipolitical thought in Confucian thought. Each of the third aspects exclamatory is controversial, but supported by views held within the historical debates and culture of Confucian political thought and practice.
